Mesic spring communities, associated with hanging gardens, growing with maidenhair fern, cardinal monkey-flower, and columbine, at 1372 to 2196 m in the North Fork and Kolob sections of Zion National Park, Washington Co. Clausen’s violet is locally common in alcoves and grottos along the bottom of Zion and Kolob canyons, where it grows in moist shaded habitats (Welsh et al 2015).
