Diagnostic characteristics
While very similar to Draba lonchocarpa, D. inexpectata has short, pubescent pods, pubescent herbage, and one to two minute cauline leaves. D. inexpectata is similar to D. cana as well but has much shorter stems (1-4 cm compared to 10-30 cm), non-ciliate basal leaves, and much fewer flowered racemes (2 to 11 compared to 10 to 63).
Species range
Endemic to Uinta Mountains in Uinta and Summit counties, Utah.
Threats or limiting factors
Threatened by climate change and drought.
