Species range
Estimate from download of data from Utah Rare Plant Database on January 22, 2024.
Geocat 13 observations: Extent of Occurrence: 835.753 km2.
Historic observations over 40 years old were not used.
Known in Utah from a single population in a heavily grazed greasewood community at 1310 m in Weber County (Welsh et al. 2015). Primarily known from central California, but discovered in Oregon in 2017 according to the Flora of the Pacific Northwest (Hitchcock and Cronquist, 2018). It is suspected that it is introduced to Utah according to Grasses of the Intermountain Region (Anderton and Barkworth, 2009).
Threats or limiting factors
Threats to this species are mainly due to habitat impacts from grazing, OHV use, changes in water levels of the Great Salt Lake. High grazing use has been reported in habitat according to the Utah Rare Plant Master List (UNPS, accessed 2024). Many occurrences are within private pasture and agricultural land. At least one occurrence is impacted by OHV use (Utah Rare Plant Database, accessed 2024). Changes in water levels of the Great Salt Lake may also be impacting this species (Frates 2020 in UNPS, accessed 2024).
