Threats or limiting factors
The main threats are from habitat degradation due to drought, grazing, as well as energy and mineral extraction.
Threats compiled using observations and notes from Utah Rare Plant Database and Utah Geospatial Resource Center GIS Data downloaded in 2024. Severity of impacts are not well known so ranges are provided where appropriate. There are 7 recorded occurrences of Astragalus gilviflorus var. gilviflorus in Utah within the last 40 years. Three of the occurrence are in a cattle grazing allotments. There are 2 occurrences in the boundaries of a phase 1 solar zone, and 1 occurrence in a phase 1 wind zone. There is 1 occurrence near a proposed energy transmission line, and 1 near an established electric line. There is 1 occurrence near an oil and gas well location. Drought and climate change is also a threat and likely impacting this species through out it's range (Wrobleski, 2023).
