Species range
This species is known only to occur in Summit and Uintah Counties in Utah, as well as Moffat County, Colorado, on the south side of the Blue Mountains.
Threats or limiting factors
One of the main challenges to conservation of this species is simply the fact that threats towards the species are not well documented. Long-term monitoring, surveying of additional suitable habitat, and impact assessment of land use are all critical components to an improved understanding of the threats facing this species. As it stands, no occurrences of this species are protected and managed in Utah; where it occurs on BLM land, it is possibly affected by grazing which disturbs its habitat. Like many rare plants in Utah, climate change also poses a potential threat, with extreme droughts bringing conditions that may stress plants and ultimately threaten the long term stability of populations.
