Species range
Populations are widely dispersed in north-central and central Utah, occurring in 7 counties. The actual area of occupancy, however, is probably quite small because the populations are associated with few streams.
Habitat
Specific information regarding habitat requirements are lacking, but Gaufin et al. (1966) noted associated habitats to include cold springs, creeks, and small rivers.
Threats or limiting factors
Actual threats are not known. Several of the streams receive heavy recreational use and are impacted by damming and other land and water useage that could dramatically affect aquatic habitats.
