Threats or limiting factors
Threats to this species are not well documented. Threats compiled using observations and notes from Utah Rare Plant Database and Utah Geospatial Resource Center GIS Data downloaded in 2022. Severity of impacts are not well known so ranges are provided where appropriate.
Over half of known occurrences are within active grazing allotments. Some occurrences may be potentially threatened by mineral exploration. A sand and gravel lease occurs near occupied habitat north of Big Water. Several occurrences are within UREZ phase 1 solar zone areas. Transmission lines cross occupied habitat at The Cockscomb and some occurrences near roads may be impacted by maintenance. The Utah Native Plant Society notes that some occurrences are threatened by ATV recreation. The Utah Division of Water Resources confirmed the Utah is now in "extreme" or "exceptional" drought which is likely impacting this species in similar ways as it is other desert perennial forbs in Southern Utah.
