Sagebrush, pinyon-juniper, and grassland (rarely mixed desert shrub) communities at 1670 to 3350 m in Box Elder, Carbon, Daggett, Duchesne, Emery, Garfield, Kane, Piute, Rich, Sevier, Summit, Uintah, and Wayne cos.; Yukon s. to Nev., N. Mex., and Oklahoma (Welsh et al. 2015).
Threats or limiting factors
Threats likely low. May be affected by drought. Poisonous to livestock and plant increases in number due to overgrazing (USFS, FEIS information system, accessed 2025). Selective herbicide control may be necessary to reduce white locoweed (USFS, FEIS information system, accessed 2025).
