Moist rocky slopes, meadows, woods, and along streams at 1950 to 3200 m in Box Elder, Cache, Garfield, Salt Lake, Summit, and Wasatch cos.; Alaska to Colo. (Welsh et al. 2015).

The main threats are from habitat degradation due to grazing and drought.
