Threats or limiting factors
1/31/2024: Comments Nora Ventrella: Navajo Nation has 1 known EO of this species in Copper Canyon. Threats include drought/climate change (major threat), and grazing by native rodents and insects. Rodents cache seed pods and insects will defoliate and clip the stems, is worse when drought conditions are severe. Grazing by nonnative burros has also been listed as a threat in the past- mentioned by D. Roth, but has not been observed in recent years.
