Desert shrub, sagebrush, and pinyon-juniper communities at 1630 to 2500 m on Jurassic Arapien Shale (inter alia?) in Juab, Sanpete , and Utah cos.; a Utah Great Basin endemic (Welsh et al 2015).

Threats or limiting factors
Reclamation projects and grazing threaten this species. Heavy sheep grazing occurs within its habitat (Utah Rare Plant Database 2021).
