Update
With COVID-19 restrictions loosening throughout the state, Hunter Education instructors will begin scheduling instructor-led courses with the following stipulations:
- Classes are limited to a total of 20 people, including the instructor, students, parents and other visitors.
- Masks are required for everyone in the classroom.
- A social distance of at least six feet between individuals from different households will be observed.
These guidelines will also be followed during the in-person field day portion of the course. The virtual field day option will be offered until May 31. If you register for a virtual field day, your Hunter Education instructor will email you detailed instructions on how to complete the field day requirements.

Hunter education
The Utah Hunter Education Program helps you learn essential safety skills and develop practical techniques useful for hunting. Completion of a basic hunter education course is required to obtain a hunting license in Utah if you were born after Dec. 31, 1965. All courses offered by the Utah Hunter Education Program are nationally recognized.

Hunter education
This course is required to obtain a hunting license in Utah if you were born after Dec. 31, 1965. The course includes instruction on firearm safety, hunter responsibility, wildlife management, survival and more. You have two options for completing this course:

Furharvester education
This course is required to obtain a furbearer license in Utah if you were born after Dec. 31, 1984. The course includes instruction in safe and responsible trapping. The course teaches proper trapping technique and device usage. You have two options for completing this course:

Bowhunter education
This course is not required to obtain a bowhunting permit in Utah. This is a comprehensive course for a national bowhunter certification that is required to bowhunt in Idaho, Montana, Alaska and several other states.

Extended archery orientation
Successful completion of the Extended Archery Orientation Course is required to participate in the extended archery hunts.
