Hunter education program instructors are volunteers. They have the desire to pass their knowledge and skills in hunting, trapping, outdoor safety, conservation and ethics onto others. They are often well-established local citizens who can, and will, create local interest and involvement in the program.
They know the local people, needs of the community, and when and where to set up local hunter education program classes. Teaching and public speaking skills are beneficial but not required.
Without dedicated volunteers the Utah Hunter Education Program could not exist.
We currently offer three education program certifications. (Click on the link for more information)
This training enables you to teach basic hunter education courses. It includes both the online and in-class (traditional) courses. To become an instructor:

Once your paperwork is received and processed, you will receive an email inviting you to complete our online training course. The online instructor course requires you to pay a $13 fee. You'll also have to pay an additional fee to complete one of the online student courses as part of the instructor course.
Complete in-person training. After you finish the online training course, we will contact you to schedule an in-person training session. This training typically lasts for five or six hours.
This training enables you to teach bowhunter education courses. It includes both the online and in-class (traditional) sections. You must have a minimum three years of bowhunting experience within the past ten years before applying. To become an instructor, please follow these steps:
