The multi-agency treatment of wildfire fuels in Parleys Canyon will resume with mechanical treatments (mulching) beginning on June 1 on the south side of I-80. It will continue up to Lambs Canyon as a part of more extensive fuel reduction work to improve watershed health and wildlife habitat.

Law enforcement officers and technicians with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources and other agencies had a busy holiday weekend, working to inspect and decontaminate boats across the state. Their efforts focused on preventing the invasive quagga mussels in Lake Powell and in other states from spreading to other Utah waterbodies.

As you are out hiking and camping this summer, don't be surprised if you come across a deer fawn or an elk calf during late May or June. If you do see one, the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources requests that you not touch, try to feed or take the baby animal home — doing so can have fatal consequences for the animal and could result in injury to you.
