Poached buck deer left to waste in Washington County, Utah

Cedar City — Utah Division of Wildlife Resources conservation officers are seeking information after a buck deer was shot and left to waste earlier this month in Washington County.

DWR officers received a report on Sept. 3 of a buck deer that had been shot and killed near Enterprise. Upon further investigation, the officers determined the deer had been killed sometime within 24 hours of receiving the report. The deer had been shot with a firearm and left to waste.

There were only archery deer hunts taking place at the time the deer was killed.

"Individuals who unlawfully kill big game animals and other wildlife are stealing opportunities from law abiding hunters and others who enjoy seeing wildlife across the state," DWR Sgt. Brandon White said.

Anyone with information regarding the illegal killing of this deer or any other wildlife is encouraged to report it to the DWR in one of the following ways:

Anyone with any information regarding this specific case can also contact Sgt. Brandon White at 435-616-9453. A reward may be available for information leading to the successful prosecution of those responsible. Requests for confidentiality are respected.
