Free fish, bobbers and fishing

Take advantage of opportunities in early June

Robin is the DWR's marketing coordinator and spends much of her time working to get — and keep — people excited about fishing. She is also heavily involved with legislative issues important to the DWR.

EVERYONE LOVES a freebie. Grocery shopping is one of my least favorite things to do, but add free samples to the mix and now you’re talking! I don’t know why, but cheese skewered on a toothpick just tastes better.

I know I’m not alone in my love of free samples or try-before-you-buy promotions, so I want to make sure you know about the fishing-related “samples” available over the next couple of days.

FREE TACOS: In support of Utah’s Free Fishing Day, Rubio’s Mexican Grill is giving away their famous fish tacos for FREE on Friday, June 4, 2010. To get a free fish taco, visit Rubio’s website to download a coupon. Rubio’s Utah restaurants are located in Riverdale, Salt Lake City, Sugar House, Murray, West Jordan, American Fork and Orem. (Psst!  I have it from an insider, that you won’t be turned away if you don’t have a coupon.) And while supplies last, you can pick up a FREE fishing bobber at Utah’s Rubio’s restaurants — courtesy of the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources.

FREE FISHING: The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources invites everyone to give the sport of fishing a try for FREE on Saturday, June 5, 2010.  On Free Fishing Day you won’t need a fishing license, but all other fishing rules will still be in effect. See a list of Free Fishing Day events.

So whet your appetite for fish on Friday with a FREE fish taco at Rubio’s, and then wet a line and go fishing for FREE on Saturday. Don’t miss out on fishing this summer — you’ll build memories that last a lifetime!
