100-/200-/300-yard range rules
Please note:
No steel core or steel projectile ammunition (any ammunition where the projectile attracts a magnet) is allowed on any range.
Rules list
- Uncased firearms must be carried with the muzzle pointed up, action open and magazines removed.
- Firearm muzzle must be pointed in a safe direction at all times.
- All visitors must check in with a range safety officer before entering the range (crossing the chain-link fence barrier). Eye and ear protection is required before you cross the chain link fence onto the range.
- Any time the buzzer sounds, a cease fire is called, or you leave to check or change targets, leave your firearm on the bench with the muzzle pointed downrange, the action open and empty, and the magazine removed.
- If the buzzer sounds or a cease fire is called, you must be behind the railing and remain there until the range safety officer clears the range. You may not handle or move your firearm during any cease fire!
- Do not cross the red line in front of the benches.
- Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Accompanied means the youth and the adult must remain close enough for the adult to see and provide verbal assistance to the young shooter.
- Shooters of any age who are not hitting the target, struggling with firearm handling or causing other safety concerns will be required to correct their actions before being allowed to continue to shoot.
- Shooters must have secured a bench before posting of any targets.
- Targets must fit on our target backers. Targets cannot be wrapped around the wood frames.
- You may double tap, but there is no rapid fire shooting allowed.
- Rimfire rifles, muzzleloaders, shotguns and hunting handguns are restricted to the 100-yard distance. Some ammunition may be restricted.
- No .50 BMG or cannons are allowed on any range.
- Please pull your targets down and drop the target frame at the end of your shooting session.
100-yard range
Allowed: Centerfire rifles, rimfire rifles*, air rifles**, muzzleloaders (traditional and inline), shotguns*** and hunting handguns. Requirements for the hunting handguns are outlined in the DWR Big Game Field Regulations Guidebook.
Limitations:
- *Rimfire rifles may not use .22 short ammunition.
- **Pre-charged pneumatic air rifles only.
- ***Shotguns with rifle sights and shooting slugs may use the 100-yard range.
200- & 300-yard ranges
Allowed: Centerfire rifles only that are capable of impacting the berm at 325 yards. Any gun/caliber that is not capable of this requirement is not allowed on the 200- and 300-yard ranges.
