Share your thoughts on fishing in Utah

Take survey by June 7

If you like to fish in Utah, you have a golden opportunity right now to do two things:

What do you think about fishing in Utah? You have until June 7 to let biologists know

  • let fisheries biologists know your thoughts about fishing regulation changes the biologists are considering for 2014, and
  • share your thoughts about fishing in Utah. You can share complaints, concerns or general ideas about how to make fishing better in Utah.

Survey

You can learn more about the changes the biologists are considering — and let them know your thoughts about the ideas — by taking a brief survey at the Division of Wildlife Resources' website.

The survey is available online.

The survey consists of nine questions. It should take about five to 10 minutes to complete.

Please take the survey no later than June 7.

Your own ideas

You can share your own ideas about how to make fishing better in Utah one of three ways:

  • email your ideas to Drew Cushing, warm water sport fisheries coordinator for the DWR, at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
  • mail your ideas to:
    • Drew Cushing
      Division of Wildlife Resources
      Box 146301
      Salt Lake City, UT 84114-6301
  • call Cushing at 801-538-4774.

Cushing says organized fishing groups are often the only anglers DWR biologists hear from. "In addition to the fishing groups," he says, "we want to hear from individual anglers. We hope those who don't belong to a fishing group will share their ideas with us too."

Cushing says even though 2014 is still months away, the biologists need time before September to consider your ideas. "Please get your ideas to us no later than June 7," he says.

After evaluating your ideas, the biologists will present their final recommendations at Regional Advisory Council meetings in September. The Utah Wildlife Board will make the final decision about Utah's 2014 fishing rules at a meeting on Nov. 7.
