DAVIS COUNTY — On Jan. 14, 2018, DWR Conservation Officer Krystal Tucker received information about four geese that were killed and left to waste. The birds were found off the side of a hiking trail in Farmington Canyon. An additional 29 ducks were found partially concealed near the geese. All of the birds were still whole and did not appear to have any meat removed.

These geese were killed and left to waste in Farmington Canyon.

Considering the large number of ducks — and the fact that they appeared to all be discarded at the same time — it is highly likely that multiple individuals were involved. It would be in their best interest to contact the DWR immediately.

Because the geese and ducks were killed during the waterfowl hunting season, there are no additional violations suspected at this time, aside from wasting protected wildlife.

If you have any information about the wasting of these animals or any other wildlife violation, please call the Utah Turn-in-a-Poacher (UTiP) Hotline at 800-662-3337 or submit a report online. A reward may be available for information that leads to the successful prosecution of the individuals who wasted these birds. Requests for confidentiality are respected and honored.
