MORGAN COUNTY — DWR conservation officers in Morgan County are seeking information that could lead to the arrest and prosecution of the individual(s) who shot and killed a buck deer on Hwy. 65 near East Canyon Resort the week after the Thanksgiving holiday.

This buck was poached and left to waste near East Canyon Resort.

The buck was poached sometime between Nov. 27 and Dec. 7, 2017. Several people in the area enjoyed watching the buck, and he was photographed by wildlife enthusiasts the weekend of Thanksgiving. He was a popular buck because he often hung out near the road and was easily visible to people passing by.

When officers investigated, they determined that the deer had been shot. His head was missing, and the rest of his body was left to rot. There were no open hunting seasons for buck deer in that area when the incident occurred.

If you have any information about this case, please call the Utah Turn-in-a-Poacher (UTiP) Hotline at 800-662-3337 or submit a report online. A reward may be available for information that leads to the identification, arrest and successful prosecution of the individual(s) who shot and abandoned this buck. Requests for anonymity will be honored.
