This is the headless carcass of a mature buck deer found in Lehi over Thanksgiving weekend.

UTAH COUNTY — Over Thanksgiving weekend, a citizen in Lehi called the UTiP hotline to report finding the headless carcass of a buck deer. DWR conservation officers responded to investigate.

When officers investigated the scene, which was near 1350 W 800 N in Lehi, they determined the buck had been shot with a rifle. The relative size of the carcass indicated that it was that of a mature buck. Whoever killed the deer took only the head and left all the meat to waste. People who frequent the area reported seeing a mature buck with unique drop tines on both sides of the antlers. It is possible this carcass is from that unique, drop-tine buck.

If you know who may have killed this buck, or you have any other information about this incident, please notify the DWR. You can call the UTiP hotline at 800-662-3337 (DEER) or email information to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
