Spring Creek/Dodge


The Spring Creek - Dodge Cooperative Wildlife Management Unit (CWMU) is to the northwest, north, northeast, southeast, and south of Monticello, Utah. It is a large CWMU with many scattered parcels. Much of the east boundary is on the border of Utah and Colorado. Elevations range from about 6800 feet to 7800 feet. The most common elevation is 6600 feet but ranges from 5800 feet to 8000 feet with an elevation difference of 2200 feet. Fifty percent (50%) of the CWMU elevation ranges between 6800 feet and 7000 feet an elevation difference of 200 feet.

Over fifty percent (50%) of the Spring Creek Dodge Cooperative Wildlife Management Unit (CWMU) is covered with Agriculture (114). Another twenty-six percent (26%) of the Unit is classified as Inter-Mountain Basins Big Sagebrush Shrubland (48). The other major land cover type is Colorado Plateau Pinyon-Juniper Woodland (36).

One of the Spring Creek - Dodge Cooperative Wildlife Mangement Unit (CWMU) nearest weather stations, MONTICELLO (425805), is about 0.5 km west from the west edge of the CWMU. MONTICELLO has one hundared six (106) years of records, 1902 - 2008. During the FALL (September, October and November) the average precipitation is 4.31 inches, but it can be as high as 10.31 inches or as low as 0.52 inch. During the 91-day FALL period, 17 days will experience greater than or equal to 0.01 inch of precipitation, 10 days of greater than or equal to 0.10 inch, or 3 days of the greater than or equal to 0.50 inch of precipitation. There is also 1 day that can have greater than or equal to 1.00 inch of precipitation . Snowfall during the FALL averages 6.7 inches but can be as high as 22.0 inches. FALL temperature at MONTICELLO averages 47.7 degrees F. but can be as high as 91.0 degrees F. or as low as -8.0 degrees F.
