Regulation changes

  • Echo Reservoir: On September 29, the Utah Wildlife Board passed a change to the fishing regulations for walleye at Echo Reservoir. Effective immediately, you must not release any walleye that you catch. All walleye caught at Echo Reservoir must be immediately killed.

Emergency changes

  • Tibble Fork Reservoir: The daily bag and possession limit has been increased to eight (8) fish. This change is effective immediately and will remain in effect through June 30, 2016. Tibble Fork Reservoir will be drained beginning as early as April 1, 2016 to make repairs to the outlet works, upgrade Tibble Fork Dam to meet dam safety and seismic standards, and increase water storage. Limits are being temporarily liberalized to allow anglers to harvest fish that would otherwise be lost.

  • Red Fleet Reservoir (Uintah County): Effectively immediately, the reservoir is closed to the possession of yellow perch and black crappie and, if caught, must be released. Red Fleet Reservoir was treated with rotenone in October 2015 to remove illegally stocked walleye and smallmouth bass. On March 10, 2016, 1,050 yellow perch were stocked into Red Fleet Reservoir. A similar number of black crappie will be stocked into the reservoir in early April. This emergency change in regulations is meant to protect these stocked fish through one spawn. It will remain in effect until July 1, 2016. All other rules established in the 2016 Utah Fishing Guidebook remain in effect.
