Not much is known about this species, it was discovered in a section of the Book Cliffs that is geographically isolated from the greater body of the Uinta Basin. The type locality was collected in Horse canyon.

Not much is known about this species, it was discovered in a section of the Book Cliffs that is geographically isolated from the greater body of the Uinta Basin. The type locality was collected in Horse canyon.

Diagnostic characteristics

This plant is distinguished from the greater Mentzelia multicaulis group by its more robust growth habit, trilobed leaves (rarely 4-5) and winged seeds.

Species range

Endemic to Carbon and Emery counties.

Threats or limiting factors

Threats include impacts from energy exploration and development, grazing, road and railway maintenance and drought. Additional threats may include impacts from recreation and invasive plant species.
