General information

Eriogonum ammophilum grows in sandy washes, flats, and dunes, and stabilized sand with shadescale, horsebrush, winterfat, rabbitbrush, ephedra, and pinyon-juniper communities between 4,790 and 6,200 feet elevation. It has a narrow range, its location confirmed only in Millard County, Utah.

Diagnostic characteristics

This species is distinguished from E. nummulare by its glabrous inflorescence and glabrous and narrowly obconic involucres.

Endemic to Millard County, Utah.

Threats or limiting factors

Primary threats include impacts to habitat from grazing, drought, recreation, invasive weeds like Salsola tragus and Bromus spp., and mining (URPD 2025).
