Erigeron untermannii is a Uinta Basin endemic found in Duchesne, Uintah, Emery, and Sanpete Counties, Utah. It is a long lived perennial with an intricately branched caudex and many leaves at the base. It flowers May through July. It grows on calcerous shales and sandstones of the Tertiary Unita and Green River formations on the Tavaputs Plateau at 7000 to 9400 feet elevation. It lives among pinyon-juniper, mountain mahogany, limber and bristlecone pine, and sagebrush communities.

Threats or limiting factors
Threats due to habitat degradation from energy development and grazing (URPD 2021). All occurrences on federal lands are within active grazing allotments. All occurrences on Tavaputs Plateau are subject to impacts from potential oil and gas field and oil shale development. Some occurrences are on Tribal and private lands with unknown threats.
