Species range

Rocky Mountain duskysnail is distributed throughout northwestern North America.

Habitat

This species inhabits freshwater springheads, seeps, and spring-fed streams with water temperatures ranging between 6-12 °C. Within spring complexes, duskysnails can be found attached to the surface of rock substrates or the roots and stems of aquatic vegetation.

Ecology

C. greggi likely consumes algae and diatoms similar to other Hydrobiid snails; they are extremely temperature sensitive and are unable to tolerate warm water temperatures (MNHP).

Threats or limiting factors

Threats to springsnails include: water development and management, pollution, improper grazing practices, habitat shifting and alteration, recreation, and increased temperatures.

Taxonomy

Although this species was formerly placed in the genus AMNICOLA, the only report that deals with it in Utah (Hershler n.d.) uses its currently accepted name.
