Phenology

Allium geyeri blooms mid-June through September when at elevations of 6,500 and 12,000 feet. 

Diagnostic characteristics

Allium geyeri var. chatterleyi differs from A. geyeri var. geyeri  by the presence of a many-layered "sheath" of dried scales extending 4.5-11 cm up from the base of the flowering stem.

A Navajo Basin endemic, found in the Abajo Mountains of San Juan County.
