Two cow elk poached near Otter Creek

On March 8, 2014 Utah Division of Wildlife Resources officers received reports of two poached elk on the Kingston Canyon Wildlife Management Area located 2.5 miles west of Otter Creek Reservoir in Piute County, Utah.

On January 26, 2014, Utah Wildlife officers received a call on the Utah Turn In a Poacher (UTIP) hotline. The report was provided by a concerned and displeased citizen. The individual indicated he and his young daughter had just witnessed the unlawful killing of a mountain lion.

Charges filed in wildlife scheme that illegally killed Utah mountain lions and bobcats

A Colorado big game outfitter and his assistant have been charged in a 17-count indictment for their practice of illegally capturing and maiming mountain lions and bobcats — many of which were in Utah — as part of a scheme to make hunting easier for their clients.

Poached elk found in Sevier County

On Oct. 28, 2013, officers with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources received a call from a concerned citizen who found a dead bull elk. When officers responded to the scene, they found a bull elk that had been killed. Only its head had been taken.

Well-known Naples buck left to waste

A popular buck deer in Naples City was shot and left to waste. Bryan Clyde, conservation officer with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, received information through the Utah Turn in a Poacher (UTiP) hotline 1-800-662-DEER (3337) regarding a buck that was shot and left to waste in a field in Naples, Utah.

$8,000 reward offered in trophy buck poaching case

Conservation officers in southern Utah are investigating the illegal killing of a 7x13 trophy buck deer in the Shurtz Canyon area, south of Cedar City. Several members of the public had been watching this buck because of his tremendous size and character. The animal was last seen alive on Nov. 22 at 7:30 p.m.

Poached bull elk in Piute County

Conservation officers with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources are seeking help from the public for information about a poached bull elk in Piute County. On October 9, 2013, officers were called to the Durkee Springs area on the Monroe Mountain limited entry elk management unit, east of Marysvale. Officers found a 5X6 bull elk that had been shot several times and left to rot.
