On September 1, 2014, concerned citizens reported two dead fawn deer to the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources. An investigation at the scene revealed that both fawns had been shot and left to waste.

On May 13, 2014, DWR conservation officers received a report that a pelican had been shot and killed within Harrisville city limits (approximately 1400 N Washington Blvd). The witnesses heard a gunshot and, within seconds, the pelican fell and hit the ground near their vehicle.

On April 4, 2014, a jury convicted Robert Mathew Anderson, a Utah resident, of poaching a trophy bull elk. The charges stemmed from an incident that occurred on September 15, 2012.

It's not unusual to find a deer fawn or an elk calf in the woods, or even in town this time of the year. DWR officers warn the public: if you find a deer fawn or an elk calf, the best thing to do is keep your distance and leave the animal right where you found it.

DWR conservation officers are seeking information about a cow elk that was illegally killed in the South Book Cliffs near Wild Cow Wash. This area is approximately eight miles west of the Utah/Colorado border, north of I-70.
