Waterfowl hunting

2013 waterfowl hunt opener conditions

Locomotive Springs Waterfowl Management Area

Water levels are low and the only impounded water is in East Lake, which is 10 percent or less full.

Bird numbers are low.

Mallard, pintail and green-winged teal are the primary birds.

Very few Canada geese are present.

Gates will be open on September 20, 2013.

Camping is allowed, no facilities available and fires are the responsibility of the camper. If you lose it you pay for it.

Fish could be (unconfirmed plant schedule at this time) stocked in Bar-M and Teal Springs for the general waterfowl opener. The limit is four trout.

West Bear River Bay Access, Promontory

Water is absent or extremely low at the present time. As water is released from the Bear River Migratory Refuge the sand wash channel may receive more water near the boat launch.

The road repair and boat launch rebuild work has continued and will continue this fall.

Birds can concentrate around this area in years when adequate water is available.
