2012 waterfowl hunt opener conditions

Desert Lake Waterfowl Management Area

Pond Zero will most likely remain empty this fall due to drought conditions, unless heavy rainfall is received in the surrounding area. There are still plenty of places to hunt on Ponds 1, 2 ,3, 4 and 5. Setting the water shortage aside, there are plenty of ducks on and around Desert Lake. Green-winged teal and American wigeon, along with a fair number of mallards, will make worthy table fare.
