2009 waterfowl hunt opener conditions

Locomotive Springs Waterfowl Management Area

Water levels are low and the only impounded water is in East Lake, which is 50 percent full. Bird numbers are low. Mallard, pintail and green-winged teal are the primary birds. Very few Canada geese are present.

Gates will be open on September 17, 2009

Camping is allowed, but there are no facilities available. Fires are the responsibility of the camper.

Fish should be stocked in Bar-M and Baker Springs for the general waterfowl opener. The limit is four trout.
