Free day at Great Salt Lake Nature Center

Center hosts free nature workshops, tours and activities on Oct. 1

Farmington — Are you looking for something fun—and free—to do with your children on UEA weekend?

A trip to the Great Salt Lake Nature Center might be the answer.

On Oct. 1, 2009 the center will offer free nature workshops, tours and activities. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

"We'll have plenty for people to do," says Justina Parsons-Bernstein, director of the Great Salt Lake Nature Center. "For example, you can investigate animal tracks and the places animals live, and identify creepy, crawly bugs. We'll also have fun crafts you can make, and we'll take you on tours to see birds."

Parsons-Bernstein says children must be accompanied by a parent or a guardian. "The weather will probably be chilly on Thursday, so make sure you dress in warm clothes," she says. "Hot cider and coffee will also be available to help warm you up."

The Great Salt Lake Nature Center is part of the Farmington Bay Waterfowl Management Area. The WMA is just west of Farmington.
