11/5 Moab Bighorn Sheep Festival set for Nov. 20 and 21, 2009
This year's Bighorn Sheep Festival will be held Nov. 20 and 21 near Moab in sunny southeastern Utah. The event is free and everyone is encouraged to attend.
11/5 Volunteers help Matheson Wetlands Preserve
On Oct. 24, a group of volunteers armed with shovels, water buckets and a lot of determination successfully planted 2,022 native plants at the Scott M. Matheson Wetlands Preserve. The preserve was ravaged by fire last fall.
10/29 Colorado River cutthroat trout stage a comeback
2009 has been a good year for Colorado River cutthroat trout in southeastern Utah. This October, hatchery workers stocked 10,000 finger-sized cutthroats into Duck Fork Reservoir and another 10,000 into the White River.
10/29 Ghost fish in Steinaker?
That unusual ghost- or radioactive-looking fish at Steinaker Reservoir, it's one of the 15,000 recently stocked white rainbow trout raised to give anglers an unusual and unique fishing experience.
10/25 Statewide deer archery hunting could happen again in 2010
The Division of Wildlife Resources is proposing that general archery deer hunters be allowed to hunt anywhere in Utah that's open to general-season hunting.

Applications for next year's most prized Utah hunting permits 2010 sportsman permits will be available by Nov. 2.
10/19 Major big game hunting changes could happen in 2011
The time of year when you can hunt deer and elk in Utah might change in 2011. But the changes are big enough that the DWR wants to get the ideas out now so there's plenty of time for you to comment.
10/19 Wildlife officers at checkpoints across Utah
Don't be surprised if wildlife officers stop your vehicle at an administrative checkpoint this fall. Division of Wildlife Resources officers conduct these checkpoints, formerly called roadblocks, throughout the year. But the number of checkpoints increases when the hunting seasons start in the fall.
10/14 2009 Moab bighorn sheep watch
On November 20–21, 2009, the Division of Wildlife Resources will sponsor its annual Moab Bighorn Sheep Watch. The event is free to the public. There is no pre-registration. Sheep watchers are encouraged to bring a pair of binoculars, spotting scope and camera.
