DescriptionThe Wallsburg Cooperative Wildlife Management Unit (CWMU) is located east of Wallsburg, Utah. The higher elevations are on the east side of the Unit, ranging from 8900 feet in the south to 8400 feet in the north. Maple Creek or Maple Canyon cuts the Unit in the southwest, ranging from 6200 feet to 8400 feet. In the north Boomer Canyon cuts the Unit, ranging from 7000 feet to 8400 feet.
Near forty percent (40%) of the Wallsburg Cooperative Wildlife Management Unit (CWMU) is Rocky Mountain Aspen Forest and Woodland (22). This Aspen Forest and Woodland is all on the eastside of the unit. On the westside of the unit it is a mixture of Inter-Mountain Basins Montane Sagebrush Steppe (62) and Rocky Mountain Gambel Oak-Mixed MontaneShrubland (41).
One of the Wallsburg Cooperative Wildlife Mangement Unit (CWMU) nearest weather stations, DEER CREEK DAM (422057), is 12.1 km west of the west edge of the CWMU. DEER CREEK DAM has forty-nine (49) years of records, 1959 - 2008. During the FALL (September, October and November) the average precipitation is 2.54 inches, but it can be as high as 7.69 inches or as low as 0.60 inch. During the 91-day FALL period, 15 days will experience greater than or equal to 0.01 inch of precipitation, 8 days of greater than or equal to 0.10 inch, or 1 day of the greater than or equal to 0.50 inch of precipitation. Snowfall during the FALL averages 4.4 inches but can be as high as 30.0 inches. FALL temperature at DEER CREEK DAM averages 46.0 degrees F. but can be as high as 97.0 degrees F. or as low as -12.0 degrees F.
