CWMU description
The Park Valley Cooperative Wildlife Management Unit (CWMU) is located in Box Elder County about two and one-half miles northwest from Park Valley, Utah. This CWMU has little relief. The most common elevation is 5000 feet, but ranges from 4800 feet to 5200 feet, a difference of just 400 feet. Sixty-five percent (65%) of the unit ranges between 5000 feet and 5200 feet, a 200 foot difference.
Inter-Mountain Basins Big Sagebrush Shrubland (48), Inter-Mountain Basins Greasewood Flat (82), and Agriculture (114) are the dominant land cover types on the Park Valley CWMU. These three cover types make up over fifty percent (50%) of the unit. There are two location where entire sections are agriculture land cover. Besides these three land cover types, Inter-Mountain Basins Semi-Desert Grassland (76), Inter-Mountain Basins Mixed Salt Desert Scrub (58), and Invasive Annual Grassland (121) contribute to nintey-three percent (93%) of the unit.

PARK VALLEY has seventy-nine (79) years of records, 1911 - 1990. During the FALL (September, October and November) the average percipitation is 2.45 inches, but it can be as high as 6.38 inches or as low as 0.62 inch. During the 91-day FALL period, 13 days will experience greater than or equal to 0.01 inch of percipitation, 7 days of greater than or equal to 0.10 inch, or 1 days of the greater than or equal to 0.50 inch of percipitation. Snowfall during the FALL averages 5.8 inches but can be as high as 22.5 inches. FALL temperature at PARK VALLEY averages 48.4 degrees F. but can be as high as 93.0 degrees F. or as low as 0.0 degrees F. During the FALL, 36 days will be below freezing (32 degrees F.) and no days above 90 degrees F.
