Soldier Creek Dam
This day-use access point provides anglers with access to shallow riffles, scour pools behind large boulders, moderately deep pools. Some woody debris increases the complexity of fish habitat in this area. A well-worn trail can be accessed from this location. The trail parallels the river for approximately 2 miles.
This access point is located just downstream from Soldier Creek Dam. The UTM coordinates for this access point are 497,835 meters east and 4,441,967 meters north. Decimal degree coordinates for this location are -111.0254108 longitude and 40.1280231latitude.
From the I-80/US 40 junction, travel east on US 40, through the towns of Heber and Fruitland, for roughly 49.7 miles. Turn right onto Soldier Creek Dam Road (FR 090) and travel south for roughly 5 miles. Do not proceed across the dam, but instead continue traveling south at the Y-intersection to reach this access point.
This area of Strawberry River ranges in width from 15 to 35 feet.
Depth and habitat in this area is variable; ranging from 1 foot in riffles and runs to 2-3 feet deep in pools.
No camping permitted on-site. Camping available at nearby Aspen Grove Campground.
Hiking, backpacking, and wildlife viewing opportunities are available to visitors at this access point. Camping, paddle sports, water sports, and boating is also available at nearby Strawberry Reservoir.
