General information

Chicken Creek East is a small access point that affords float tubers, shore anglers, and ice anglers with year-round access. A primitive ramp is also available at this site for hand-launching of small craft.


Chicken Creek East is located along the north shoreline of Strawberry Reservoir in Jakes Bay. The UTM coordinates for this access point are 487,767.974 meters east and 4,454,017.000 meters north. Decimal degree coordinates for this location are -111.143797 longitude and 40.236501 latitude.


From Salt Lake City, head east on I-80 for 23.9 miles. Take exit 146 and merge onto US-40. Travel on US-40 for 42.6 miles. Turn right and travel 0.2 mile to the Chicken Creek East day-use area.

No camping on site. Camping is available at Strawberry Bay campground.

Paddle sports, boating, and crayfishing are available to visitors at this access point. Hiking, backpacking, hunting, horseback and OHV riding, snowmobiling, mountain biking, scenic driving, and wildlife viewing also available in the surrounding area.

A primitive boat ramp is available for anglers willing to hand launch small boats.
