Hardware Ranch

Projects for volunteers

We're always in need of volunteers to help us out. Listed below are a few projects.

These projects will fulfill Division of Wildlife Resources Dedicated Hunter Program requirements, but all volunteers are more than welcome. An updated dedicated hunter list will be available this spring. We are always looking for skilled plumbers, electricians, drywallers, framers and all around handy guys and gals. If you are interested in a project or in donating materials, please contact Marni at MarniLee@utah.gov.

Volunteer naturalist position
  • Assist our education program by volunteering to teach visiting 4th graders about Hardware Ranch and wildlife.
Hitch and unhitch sleigh rides
  • Spend an afternoon visiting with the public and hitching and unhitching the sleigh teams as they arrive and depart from the hitching rails in the sleigh line area. No experience necessary just a love for horses and people. It is a great way to spend a warm winter day — we are always above any valley inversions and the weather at the Ranch is almost always better than the valleys.
  • We need the most help on Saturdays and Sundays but welcome your help on Mondays and Thursdays as well. E-mail us at DanChristensen@utah.gov to make arrangements.
