Elk viewing and wagon rides begin in December
Depending on weather and snowfall, elk-viewing rides at Hardware Ranch WMA generally run from the middle of December until March on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays. The 2014-2015 season will begin on December 12, 2014 and will run through Feb. 9, 2015. (The season normally runs until March, but because of unseasonably warm temperatures and low numbers of elk, the ranch is closing early this year.)
Elk-viewing ride prices
We accept cash, check, credit and debit cards. NOTE: We recommend bringing cash in case the internet lines are down and our card readers aren't working.
Ticket sales for rides will close promptly at 4:30 p.m. You must have your ticket purchased and be in the sleigh line by 4:30 p.m. There is no food or fuel sold at the ranch.
We are closed every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. We are also closed on Christmas day.
Portable restrooms are available in the upper visitor center parking lot.
Other area activities
Fishing on the Blacksmith Fork River, Curtis Creek and Rock Creek provides miles of access to excellent fishing. All waters on the management area are open to fishing year round with appropriate licenses.
Primitive camping spots are available during the year. No restroom or garbage facilities are offered. Please take care of these areas and pack out trash.
The majority of the 14,000-acre management area is open for recreational hunting during appropriate hunting seasons. Deer, elk, moose, chukar, ruffed grouse and cottontail rabbits are all hunted on the management area.
