The elk-viewing rides are Hardware Ranch are closed for the season.

Winter season

Depending on the weather and snowfall, the elk-viewing rides at Hardware Ranch usually from from about the middle of December until the end of February.

Saturday	10 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Sunday	10 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Monday	Noon to 5:00 p.m.

Ticket sales for rides will close promptly at 4:30 p.m. You must have your ticket purchased and be in the sleigh line by 4:30 p.m. There is no food or fuel sold at the ranch.

We are closed every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. We are also closed on Christmas day.

Weather Forecast

Note: Due to mild weather and reduced snow, elk numbers average 50–150 depending on the day and the hour. This number changes frequently. Parking lots and trails at the ranch are sometimes slick and icy. Please drive carefully, bring appropriate footwear and watch your step.

No reservations are needed. You may purchase tickets in the Visitor Center. Unfortunately, food service is not available. However, picnic lunches are welcome in the dining room.

There are no group discounts.

Other area activities

Fishing on the Blacksmith Fork River, Curtis Creek and Rock Creek provides miles of access to excellent fishing. All waters on the management area are open to fishing year round with appropriate licenses.
Primitive camping spots are available during the year. No restroom or garbage facilities are offered. Please take care of these areas and pack out trash.
The majority of the 14,000-acre management area is open for recreational hunting during appropriate hunting seasons. Deer, elk, moose, chukar, ruffed grouse and cottontail rabbits are all hunted on the management area.
