Facts

Relatively few of today's Utahns know much about Great Salt Lake (GSL) other than "It smells!" In fact, to many it appears a vast wasteland with rumors of brine shrimp and salt factories. The majority of people outside of Utah probably don't even know that much! Yet Brigham Young himself bragged about the lake and visited on frequent weekend outings. The Spa and Resort industries here relished the prestige as one of the most popular and luxurious destinations in America! People came far and wide to see the great inland sea and refresh in the famously invigorating waters. Although the GSL doesn't carry the same tune as yesteryear, tourism and local interest/visits are finally increasing once again. This world famous ecosystem that is somewhat of a mystery to the people that live closest to it, is, at last, unveiling her secrets.
