Obtaining your permits

Everyone who joins the Dedicated Hunter program looks forward to obtaining their deer permits. So how do you get yours? Generally, if your conservation and ethics course — and service hours — are complete (and you have a valid hunting or combination license), the DWR will automatically print and mail your permit during June and July each year. If any of your annual requirements aren't complete by August, you'll need to contact or visit a DWR office to pick up or arrange a mailing for your permit.

The following are your annual requirements:

  • Year 1: You must complete the online wildlife conservation and ethics course and have a valid Utah hunting or combination license.
  • Year 2: You must perform a minimum of 16 service hours and have a valid Utah hunting or combination license.
  • Year 3: You must perform a minimum of 16 service hours, for a total of 32 service hours (year 2 + year 3), and have a valid Utah hunting or combination license.

We encourage you to use this website to check on your hours and the completion of other requirements. If you believe our records are incorrect, please contact a Division office.
