Dedicated hunters

In 2012, the number of openings in the Dedicated Hunter program will vary from unit to unit. The DWR will hold a drawing (merged with the 2012 big game drawing) to fill those spots. Fifteen percent of the permits for each unit will be allocated to Dedicated Hunters.
To participate in the drawing, you must:
First, complete the Dedicated Hunter orientation course. The 2012 orientation course is now online, and it takes 30–60 minutes to complete. Please allow enough time to finish the course and apply for the program — don't wait until the last minute.
Second, submit your application for the online drawing. In 2012, the Dedicated Hunter Program application process will be combined with the big game application period. The application period begins on Feb. 1, 2012 and ends at 11 p.m. on March 1, 2012. If you have questions about the application, please call your local DWR office before 5 p.m. on March 1, 2012.
When you submit your application, you may apply as an individual or in groups of up to four hunters. Drawing results will be available on May 31, 2012, and successful applicants will be notified via e-mail. If your name is drawn, the DWR will mail your welcome letter and other program documents in June.
By participating in the program — and meeting the program requirements — you can expect years of great hunting and a chance to help Utah wildlife. If you have questions about the orientation course or the application process, please contact us.
