DWR officers will conduct checkpoints in 2012

Conservation officers use wildlife checkpoints to monitor compliance with wildlife laws, help stop the spread of invasive species and collect valuable information about wildlife populations.

The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR) intends to conduct several administrative checkpoints throughout the state in 2012. DWR conservation officers use these checkpoints to monitor the taking and possession of protected wildlife species and to ensure compliance with license requirements and equipment restrictions.

In 2011, the Division of Wildlife conducted several administrative checkpoints throughout the state, focusing on fish, big game, small game and aquatic invasive species. These checkpoints were successful and well received.

In the ongoing effort to protect Utah's wildlife, conservation officers will continue to use checkpoints in the coming year, particularly to address the increased threat of aquatic invasive species.
