On March 12, 2013, Utah Division of Wildlife Resources Officer Kody Jones received information regarding a poached deer east of Holden, Utah. The deer was part of a study being conducted by Brigham Young University and the Utah Division of Wildlife.

The main suspect in one of the largest poaching investigations in recent memory has been sentenced. Jarod Birrell and others are believed to have poached numerous buck deer, many of them trophies, throughout Utah in the winter months of 2010.

Two Utah men have been sentenced in Salt Lake District Court for the illegal killing of protected wildlife. The individuals operated a guiding and production company and documented many of their violations on video, which was seized during the course of the investigation.

Conservation officers with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources are seeking the public's assistance on a case involving a poached buck mule deer found in the Doc Springs area on the Beaver Mountain management unit, approximately two miles northwest of Circleville.

Northern Utah resident, Michael Gardner, was charged with a class A misdemeanor for the illegal harvest of two bull elk during the 2012 general season any weapon spike elk hunt on Mt. Dutton unit.
The Emery County Attorney's Office filed charges in the Seventh District Court against local resident, Jeremy Lake, for the illegal killing of a cougar on January 20, 2013.

In March 2012, Utah Division of Wildlife Resources conservation officers responded to an anonymous tip that an unidentified man who was routinely catching quantities of trout from the Weber River near Mountain Green and transplanting them to an unknown water near his residence.

On January 23, 2013, Utah Division of Wildlife Resources Officer Kody Jones received information regarding a poached turkey west of Fillmore, Utah. Officer Jones responded to the scene and located a hen turkey carcass lying near Old Field Road.

Officers with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources and United States Fish and Wildlife Service are seeking the public's assistance in the investigation of a poached bald eagle. The eagle was shot in early January 2013.
