Ice is coming off Scofield Reservoir

Some of the best trout fishing you'll find all year is happening right now at Scofield Reservoir. Division of Wildlife Resources Conservation Officer Devin Christensen visited the reservoir in east-central Utah on April 16. He says the ice is starting to leave the reservoir, and now is the time to get out and fish.

Fish for large pike at Yuba Reservoir

Right now is the best chance you'll have all year to catch a big northern pike at Yuba Reservoir. During an eight-hour population survey, Division of Wildlife Resources biologists netted more than 100 northern pike.

Watch sage-grouse strut!

You'll have to get up early, but if you do, you'll see something few people have seen in nature — male sage grouse strutting and vocalizing on a historic breeding ground. The Division of Wildlife Resources and the Wild About Birds Nature Center will sponsor the free field trip on April 27.

Wildlife biologists have been monitoring big game animals across Utah and have been collecting and analyzing data from thousands of hunters who hunted big game last fall. After analyzing the data, the biologists are ready to share their big game hunting permit recommendations for this fall's hunts.
