Emergency changes to the guidebook

• DAILY BAG LIMIT INCREASE FOR TROUT: Echo Reservoir (Summit County) (PDF format)
  • The daily bag and possession limit for trout is increased to 8 trout. This change is effective from August 15, 2012 to January 1, 2013. Echo Reservoir is being drained to do reinforcement work on the dam for safety. A low water level at the lake will likely result in the loss of fish. Limits are being temporarily liberalized to allow anglers to harvest fish that would otherwise be lost. The Division anticipates that the work will be completed this fall and the dam will start capturing spring run-off.

• DAILY BAG LIMIT INCREASE FOR RAINBOW TROUT: Kens Lake (San Juan County) (PDF format)
  • The daily bag and possession limit for rainbow trout is increased to 8 trout. This change is effective from July 20, 2012 to January 1, 2013. Drought-like conditions will require the lake to be drained to low levels. The low water level at the lake will likely result in the loss of stocked rainbow trout. Limits are being temporarily liberalized to allow anglers to harvest rainbow trout that would otherwise be lost.

• DAILY BAG LIMIT INCREASE FOR TROUT: Right Hand Fork of the Logan River (Cache County) (PDF format)
  • The daily bag and possession limit for trout is increased to 8 trout. This change is effective from August 15, 2012 to January 1, 2013. The Right Hand Fork of the Logan River will be chemically treated to remove non-native brown trout this fall. Limits are being temporarily liberalized to allow anglers to harvest fish that would otherwise be lost. After the two year treatment, the river will be stocked with native Bonneville cutthroat trout.

• DAILY BAG LIMIT INCREASE: Manila Creek Park Pond (Utah County)— (PDF format)
  • The daily bag and possession limit is increased to 8 fish. This change is effective from October 11, 2012–December 1, 2012. Manila Creek Park Pond is being drained to do reinforcement work on the lining of the pond and to perform maintenance repairs on the aerators within the pond. Low water levels in the reservoir will likely result in the loss of fish. Limits are being temporarily liberalized to allow anglers to harvest fish that would otherwise be lost. The work should be completed later this fall and the pond will be fully operational by the spring stocking schedule.

• DAILY BAG LIMIT INCREASE FOR TROUT: Mill Meadow Reservoir (Sevier County) (PDF format)
  • The daily bag and possession limit for trout is increased to 8 trout. This change is effective from August 9, 2012 to January 1, 2013. Mill Meadow Reservoir will be drained this fall for repair work to the dam. Low water levels at the lake will likely result in the loss of trout. Limits are being temporarily liberalized to allow anglers to harvest trout that would otherwise be lost.

• DAILY BAG LIMIT INCREASE FOR TROUT: Navajo Lake (Kane County) (PDF format)
  • The daily bag and possession limit for trout is increased to 8 trout. This change is effective from May 11, 2012 to January 1, 2013. A section of the dike at Navajo Lake failed, resulting in the draining of the lake to a lower than normal level. The low water level at the lake will likely result in the loss of fish. Limits are being temporarily liberalized to allow anglers to harvest trout that would otherwise be lost. Plans are underway to repair the dike when water levels reach a point which will allow construction work to begin.

• DAILY BAG LIMIT INCREASE FOR TROUT: Panguitch Creek (Garfield County) (PDF format)
  • The daily bag and possession limit for trout is increased to 8 trout. This change is effective from August 9, 2012 to January 1, 2013. Water flows from Panguitch Lake will be shut off in mid-September. Low water levels in the stream will likely results in the loss of trout. Limits are being temporarily liberalized to allow anglers to harvest trout that would otherwise be lost.

• DAILY BAG LIMIT INCREASE FOR TROUT: Spirit Lake (Daggett County) (PDF format)
  • The daily bag and possession limit for trout is increased to 8 trout. This change is effective from July 20, 2012 to January 1, 2013. The Division of Wildlife Resources has plans to treat the Middle Fork Sheep Creek Drainage, including Spirit Lake, with the pesticide Rotenone in September 2012. Limits are being temporarily liberalized to allow anglers to harvest trout that would otherwise be lost.

  • The daily bag and possession limit for trout is increased to 8 trout. This change is effective from August 9, 2012 to January 1, 2013. Water flows from Forsyth Reservoir will be shut off in mid-September. Low water levels in the stream will likely results in the loss of trout. Limits are being temporarily liberalized to allow anglers to harvest trout that would otherwise be lost.
