Big game animals

Depredation pool application

When deer, elk or pronghorn cause agricultural damage, the Division may hold hunts — called depredation hunts — that are not listed in the hunt guidebook or online. Depredation hunts occur on short notice, involve small areas and are limited to a few hunters. The majority are antlerless hunts.

If you're interested in participating in depredation hunts, click "proceed" below and fill out the application to be entered into the depredation hunter pool.

If you participate in any deer, elk or pronghorn depredation hunt, you may not possess an additional permit for that species. You may obtain only one big game permit for any species you want to hunt. For example, you may NOT obtain two buck deer permits. You can obtain a buck deer and an antlerless deer permit, and a bull elk permit and antlerless elk permit or 2 antlerless elk permits. You can only have one pronghorn permit.

The depredation hunter pool application must be completed by October 1. If we receive your application after October 1, it will be considered only if we do not have an adequate pool of applicants available to cover the depredation situations that arise.
