The DWR will award a minimum of 10 National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) grants during the 2012–2013 school year. These grants provide financial support and training assistance to Utah schools that want to offer hands-on archery instruction to students. Additional grants may be awarded as funds become available.
Successful applicants are required to contribute at least 10 percent of the funds needed to purchase the NASP equipment. For the 2012–2013 school year, the total cost for equipment is $3,011 per school. For simplicity, the DWR has rounded each school's 10-percent contribution amount to $300.

If you have questions about the application before the July 31, 2012 deadline, call 801-538-4727, Mon.–Fri., from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., MST. The Grant Review Committee will make all funding decisions by Aug. 6, 2012, 2012. We will notify successful applicants by phone no later than Aug. 8, 2012, and the DWR will send an official notification letter to all applicants.
The NASP Grant Review Committee will assess the grant applications according to the following criteria:
Geographic location Sixty percent of grant funds will be allocated to schools in Weber, Davis, Salt Lake and Utah counties. The additional 40 percent of funds will be designated for the remaining counties in the state.
Implementation How the school plans to include NASP in its core physical education (PE) curriculum is important. Will it be part of the regular physical education program or run as an afterschool program? Will it serve the majority of the student body? Preference will be given to schools that implement NASP as part of a physical education program.
Matching funds At a minimum, applicants must contribute 10 percent of the funds needed to purchase the NASP equipment. For the 2012–2013 school year, that amount is $300. Preference may be given to schools that contribute more than the required amount.
Tournament commitment The annual state NASP tournament provides an opportunity for teachers and students to showcase the skills they have learned. The tournament gives students, teachers, sponsors and the DWR an exciting and engaging event to work toward. Additionally, students who participate in the state tournament become eligible to compete at the national level. The Utah NASP State Tournament for the 2012–2013 school year will be held in February 2013.
